Male-factor infertility
Male-factor infertility can contribute to difficulty conceiving and may involve sperm count, movement, shape, or other aspects of reproductive health. A couple-based evaluation helps assess both partners together and identify the factors that may be affecting the chances of pregnancy.
Assessment may include a review of medical and reproductive history, semen analysis, previous fertility treatments, and additional investigations when appropriate. Evaluating both partners allows treatment decisions to be coordinated rather than focusing on one factor in isolation.
Treatment is individualized according to the findings and the couple's overall fertility situation. Options may include appropriate medical or fertility treatment, assisted reproductive techniques, or IVF with intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) when indicated. The aim is to select an evidence-based approach that offers the couple an appropriate pathway toward pregnancy.
